Donna Batt has been cutting hair for over 40 years and is proud to offer barber and hair styling services in the community of Mount Uniacke, Nova Scotia, and surrounding areas.

“I remember being as young as 5 years old, drawn to my mom’s make-up and her wigs, and becoming fascinated with cutting my barbie dolls hair.
By the age of 12, I knew that I wanted to be a Hairdresser.
I attended cosmetology school when I was 16, and received my first job at Frances Beauty Shop, where I learned the ropes of the hair industry. In two short years I became a Master Hairstylist.
Since then, I’ve taken many courses to keep up to date with the latest fashions of hairstyling, including razor cutting, shag haircuts, clipper cuts, and the evolving styles of men’s and women’s cuts. I’ve also become very proficient in perms and colours.“

Donna has had a great career managing and working in and various hair salons such as Magic Cuts and First Choice Haircutters.
In 2007 Donna felt compelled to accept a unique opportunity to support our Canadian troops.
She took a sabbatical from her manager’s job (with no guarantees she’d be accepted back in that position) to cut hair for the Canadian Military in Kandahar, Afghanistan, working for CFPSA on a six-month contract.
Upon returning to Canada, Donna went on to work as a Manager at Skybox Haircuts before making the leap to small-business owner and opening her own shop.
Established in Mount Uniacke in 2015
Donna Batt has lived in Mount Uniacke since 2004, and has followed her dream to open her own salon in the community.
Finding a location was a challenge, but eventually, in 2015, she was offered the opportunity to work out of the little shed that used to be Wayne’s Barbershop, thus naming the business “The Hair Shed.”
In July 2017, she moved the business to its current location at 16 James Boyle Drive and has been operating there ever since.
